Feeling Lost in this journey

I started my journey in January 2011. To date I have lost 77lbs. I should be embracing this loss. However, instead, I still see a big person in the mirror. While my eating has changed, I still find myself going to snacky foods. For example, today when I came home from work I went straight for the peanut butter & pretzels.......and ate more than I should have. I don't crave the stuff and have no real reason why I go for it. I still have weight to lose.....& this self sabatoging has got to stop. I exercise between 30 & 60 minutes every day, and even that is an internal fight. Maybe I just don't want this bad enough???? Just feeling really lost I suppose.

I think the mind is slower to catch up than the body is. So while we're smaller, it takes a long, long time for us to recognize ourselves as smaller. Years or decades of struggling with the image problems that being overweight gives us isn't going dissipate because we've reached a number on the scale. This is normal and it does not mean that you aren't trying.

If you hadn't been trying, you wouldn't have lost 70+ pounds - and that is one HELL of an accomplishment!

OP: I think the fact that you posted this here today says that you do indeed want it bad enough. You know what you need to do, and you absolutely can keep doing it. 77lbs??? Amazing!!!! Keep up the excellent work you have done to get so far!!! We all have off days (or weeks), but the key is recognizing that and choosing to keep working toward our goals. You've got this.

    quirkytizzy: Wise words.

You've lost 77lbs! Congratulations ........you probAbly have a plan and a routine going that works for you.
Can you perhaps go on auto-pilot mode and keep the momentum going? We can't be motivated 100% of the time, but we can try to relax and keep on with the good habits we now have.
If its a real problem maybe up your calories a little, goal dates and weights are an incentive but it's really ok to take a little longer and be a little happier?
