Protein Load in Nutritional Yeast? + Kale Chips recipe!

I was looking at the labels for nutritional yeast and woah - 18g of protein for 1/4 cup? Some state it's 150% that amount. It seems extreme to me. I don't remember nutritional yeast being labeled with so much protein in the past, nor do I ever remember people boasting about its huge protein content. What it's often talked about is B12 and even then... It makes me wonder - If this stuff is SOOOOOO loaded with protein, why isn't it being toted as such?
To end on a positive note, here's a cheesy kale chips recipe I came up with that is ADDICTIVE!
6 cups lightly packed torn kale, 1/4 cup nutritional yeast, 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil or so, and 1/8-1/4 tsp salt. Mix together, dry 'til crisp in a dehydrator, or spread out on cookie sheets and bake at a low temperature (I keep mine anywhere under 250) until crips - watch that they don't burn! Seriously, these are super addictive, and the healthiest chip you'll get your hands on!

Love the recipe, it looks super yummy.
Back to the yeast... In the vegan community it's actually pretty popular and is know for being so high in protein for it's volume. But I don't know many people (besides maybe myself and my mom) that could eat it in quantities that would make it a reliable protein source. It's often used as an condiment or a flavoring ingredient and the protein was an added bonus. It's also a fantastic source of B vitamins & other awesome minerals.0 -

Yup. I definitely couldn't do more than maybe two tablespoons. I also tire of it really quickly, flavor-wise.0 -
Interesting... and actually, I can easily eat 1/4 cup when it's in the form of the recipe written above0

I would add 1/2-1 cup of it to my salads. I think I was deficient in some of the B vitamins because I craved the stuff.0

I don't know about the whole craving foods we need to eat... I used to crave junk food that was really bad for me all the time and I know it's not because it had something I was desperately needing.0
