I checked my blood sugar and it was 31!! My dad is diabetic so knows thats not good at all. I had to hurry and eat something so I wouldnt pass out. I felt like crap the rest of the day! I was like that for a few months and finally went to the doctor....That was actually when i started to change my diet and eat more salads....I was low on protein and thats what cause my blood sugar level to drop! Since then I have had some meat on my salad and more things with protein and feel a lot better! good luck hope you find the cause of this:)

I get issues as well......with my exercise, it's so easy for me to suppress my appetite...then by the time I realize I'm hungry....my blood sugar is so low I get very irritable!!! ugh!

    are you drinking enough?

this may help too...i was amazed at how our blood chemistry works. i have struggled with hypoglycemia my entire adult life. now that i understand acidic and alkaline food and how it affects my blood i have NO issues at all.

take the time to watch it...it is 8 minutes worth it! it talks about soda but the education will answer your questions.

I had the same issue. I solved it by eating more protein and more often.

You are likely putting your body into stress by starving yourself throughout the day.

I, too, have had transient issues with hypoglycemia for as long as I can remember. The best advice that has worked for me is to have a balanced snack before working out. If you know that exercising is going to lower your blood sugar, it makes sense to be proactive about it so that you don't put your body through the trauma of dropping too low because your body can't maintain at low levels without inflicting some damage on itself. Before a workout I will have a good carb such as fruit, followed up by a protein like natural peanut butter, almonds, or cottage cheese. After the workout I would do the same thing, sugar followed by protein. Also, make sure you eat more frequently and never miss meals. In addition I find that entering a hot shower or steam room when I am low makes me feel even worse. I always take barely warm showers after working out.

A glucose level of 31 is very low, especially with someone who's never before had issues with hypoglycemia. I would suggest requesting some blood tests with your doctor, including fasting and random glucose levels. They are much more accurate than at home testing monitors and can help you and your doctor to form a better picture of what's going on with you. Your "new" hypoglycemic symptoms may be an indication that there is something else occuring.

Untreated hypoglycemia (or diabetes, of course) can lead to other health issues including disrupting sleep patterns, injury from passing out or being light headed, and possibly even depression. Please get checked out.
