    That's a horrible situation!

What I don't understand though is why can't she eat 5,000 of mostly healthy things? Won't the chocolate bars and jelly beans just cause even more problems down the road with the sugar and such? Won't the junk food just cause heart problems?

If she can't eat veggies, fine. But can't she eat more dairy, nuts, whole grains, etc?

It's like fixing one problem but creating another.

I'm so jealous! I know that sounds bad, but it's true - I love food and love eating, 5000/day is NO problem for me. Unfortunately, I've done it before :/

^^^Exactly! I'd carry around a big @$$ zip bag of macadamia, almonds, and walnuts, all unsalted, and go to town 24/7. Also, plenty of 100% fruit juice; plenty of vitamins there to go with the cals.

P.S. I don't believe this story, but whatever...

    ^^^

The article doesn't really explain, but she does seem to eat healthy food such as nuts, fruit, salmon, eggs, etc. I get the impression that the "unhealthy" food is to make it easier for her to eat all those calories. It seems as if she's only absorbing a fraction of what she eats, for some reason. The surgery is supposed to cause some malabsorption, so I suppose that's what's going on. Makes you wonder where all the food is going!

    How utterly awful!!!

Reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode where the world ends, allowing a bookworm to finally focus on reading - only to have his glasses break.
I remember that one...that was a good one!
