weird beige seed looking things in smoothies

hey mfp
I have been making smoothies for just over a week now, and twice I noticed hard beige seed like things...but I can't place where they are coming from.
Smoothie today is just spinach, frozen raspberries and blueberries, pineapple, and applesauce
I have been shaking my smoothie all day, and noticed some at the side of the bottle I am drinking out of. I picked it up off my desk, looked at the bottom and thought my smoothie had a maggot infestation. I took a couple out and they are really hard, like seeds, smaller than apple seeds.
Last week I had them, and thought maybe they were from some older strawberries...but there were no strawbs in my smoothie today. What they hell? Is this because my smoothie is unrefrigerated? I tried to google it but I get swamped with recipes that include seeds...:/
Thoughts/help?

How big are they? The obvious guess is from the raspberries. Post a pic if you can.0

Is your smoothie made from organic ingedients?
If not they could be potentially fatal poisons.0 -
They are about half the size of an apple seed. And there are soooo many of them....I eat raspberries raw often and never notice seeds that are really hard...these aren't even crunchy hard, but like apple seed hard...and there are no appleseeds in my applesauce.0

It is not organic, and I know you must be joking...and it isn't funny. When you have a ton of these maggoty looking things in your smoothie you will understand.0 -
I will take a picture when I get home tonight, no device to it now0

Save your samples and smash out a few raspberry seeds to compare. That seems the most obvious culprit, but what do I know? Do you keep your blender scrupulously clean?0

Or bug eggs.0 -
If your pineapple is fresh pineapple I would say the seeds are from the pineapple.0

Google "raspberry seeds" -- it seems to be close to what you are describing.0

Raspberries have seeds, blueberries have seeds. Raspberry seeds are actually quite large and the reason I don't put them in smoothies.0

Pineapple seeds look like small apple seeds.0
-
Take a closer look at all the individual ingredients. That's where they came from.0

If I had a ton of maggoty looking things in my smoothie I..... would not drink it.0 -
Depends on what they look like but blueberries (depending on how big they are) and raspberries have small beige seeds.0
-
my first thought was pineapple seeds0

they look like raspberry seeds...why have i never noticed these before. i clearly never ever chew my food! in the event that the contamination grows, i will take a picture, there are soooo many of them compared to amount of berries i put in. And my blender is clean as can be, wash it right after each use.0

Sounds like it's the seeds from the raspberries and the blueberries. x0

I'm not anymore, as soon as I noticed I felt super disappointed.0 -

Or bug eggs.
Perhaps maggot eggs? Anyone know what they look like?0 -

one raspberry contains many seeds0 -
Smoothie today is just spinach, frozen raspberries and blueberries, pineapple, and applesauce
The definition of fruit is "The sweet and fleshy product of a tree or other plant that contains seed and can be eaten as food."
Everything that you listed, minus the spinach, has seeds (although I would be dissapointed if I purchased applesauce that had seeds in it).0 -

^ this was what I was going to say, likely pineapple seeds0 -

I know all fruit has seeds...I just didn't think raspberries sold with the seeds, I have literally never noticed them while eating fresh berries (and for the smart guys, i froze them myself).0 -

Seeds can't be removed from raspberries without smashing the fruit and straining the seeds out.0 -
Why don't you do blend every individual ingredient separately? That way you can pin point exactly where they are coming from!0

Raspberries have a ton of seeds. That's why I don't put them in my smoothies.0 -
Every little bump on a raspberry has a seed in it.0

They are most likely the seeds from your fruits as others have suggested. Even using a Vita Mix, which has a very high RPM motor and will pulverize foods, it is difficult to completely pulverize the seeds from berries--strawberries, reaspberries and blackberries, especially. My husband won't eat these fruits because of the seeds. When you eat them, the seeds stick in your teeth--when you blend them the seeds float in your smoothie. You could try straining your smoothie through a sieve before drinking it.0

What's wrong with maggots? Those are good sources of protein.0
