it doesn't matter what time you eat, as long as its within you calorie limits. I don't eat dinner until after 10pm most nights0

It's not WHEN you eat, it's WHAT you eat.0
-
It depends on what time you go to bed. I've read that you shouldn't eat 2-3 hours before bed. I'm really bad at following this since I usually have a snack after dinner, but on times that I have cut off eating earlier, the scale does read lower....whether that's just food in my stomach or actual weight, I'm not sure. Overall I do think it helps to cut yourself off earlier, but I don't think an hour difference will make a huge change.0

You can eat any time. You can even eat in bad.0

Second this! That myth has been debunked - the only reason people think that works is because some people tend to go for lots of ice cream late at night that they wouldn't eat earlier (but if you're eating the same dinner you'd eat earlier, it's fine)!0
-
I really wish this myth would go away.
OP, as others have said, it doesn't matter when you.0 -
I eat meal1 at 6:00am & I finish meal 6 at 11:00pm. It's not when you eat, it's what you eat. Just stay within your calories & you'll be fine.0

Eat whenever ya wannnaaa eat!! I do IF tho, so i dont eat breakfast or past 6ish.... But im not hungry during those times now anywaaays.0

I eat right up to the moment I go to bed. Meal timing is irrelevant.0

People are different, do what works for you.
I seem to remember Oprah swore by this a few years back. Seen her lately?0 -

Oprah Winfrey has a personal chef and a trainer. I'm sure these people are what helped her lose the weight, rather than when she consumed her calories.0 -
If I couldn't eat after 6 I wouldn't get dinner most of the time. On rehearsal nights I don't eat until 10!0

has anyone posted a gremlin photo yet?
...no?0 -
It's 6pm somewhere...
That's like saying if you deposit checks into the bank after a certain time the are worth more or less. Take a step back and look at the broader picture. Weekly. Monthly. Calories in, calories out. Find the right balance for you and your lifestyle.0 -
I work nights 5 days a week. I eat at all kinds of crazy hours.0

Perhaps I should have been clearer. She's still overweight, it didn't work.0 -
I think what you eat is most important; however, I don’t think you should go to bed on a full stomach. Personally I don’t eat two hours before bed.0
-
I try not to eat a couple hours before bedtime, just because I get indigestion otherwise.0
-
Research has found that the digestive process can have serious implications on your sleep cycle, causing you to wake up more often, and have a harder time falling asleep in the first place.
If it isn't' interfering with your sleep I don't think it matters.
The studies / science seems to be back and forth / inconclusive as to whether it impacts weight gain.0 -
It's a myth...I've always eaten a late dinner. I'm eating dinner right now. And I've kept off my 70lbs for a LONG time!0
-
There are very few reasons to not eat before bed time.. but all of them are either due to indigestion as someone mentions or it disturbs your sleep. It will not affect weight loss though.0

The only REAL reason people cut off at 6 is because they save the calories they would have eaten past 6.
Let's say you stop eating "past 6", and you used to eat 300 calories in wine and cheese past 6, but now you decided not to eat past 6, then you just saved yourself that 300 calories. As long as you don't eat them somewhere else in the day.
And then, you have people who need to digest their food way before they eat. Like my husband, I think it is all in his head, but he can't eat several hours before he goes to bed. He says it comes back up if he lays down. I think he's crazy. lol.0 -
I rarely eat after 6. It has mostly to do with the fact I wake up with a food hangover if I eat too late. I can't sleep on a full stomach, it would make me sick.0
-
Stop eating at least 3 hours before bed. Or 7pm.0
-
Kind of seems unreasonable.
I get home from work late and I usually eat after 6.
Now eating after 1-2am, yea, I don't do that.0 -
Depends on your schedule and what time you go to bed, as well as what you are eating after 6. I try not to eat after 8 pm because I go to bed about 10:30. But I do have a snack everynight, usually cereal or other low calorie choice.0

If you eat too close to when you go to bed you may have bad dreams. Perhaps even the dreaded iguana dream. Now the iguana dream wont kill you, but it is disturbing and terrifying and will haunt you until your dying day. Eat late at your own peril.0

I like to hoard my calories and eat the majority after 6 pm. During the day between breakfat and lunch I eat around 600, and eat the rest at dinner and a nighttime snack. It's working so far!0
-
Many people say you shouldn't because the foot site in your stomach and is undigested. Quite frankly I use the Body Media device. Sometimes I eat right before bed and sometimes I don't. What i can say is that if I eat before going to sleep I burn about 100 more calories while sleeping. Probably because your internal temperature is up while you are digesting. Either way I have lost many many pounds over the last year and I often eat late. So I would call this myth busted.....

I eat always late...my schedule makes it that way but i'm never sick because of it.
Oviously....don't eat a banana or stuff that could make you gassy etc... it's just a question of logic.
I'm weird but I have almost 95% of the time...a protein shake with peanut butter toast before bed.
I looooooooove this little moment....It's my bedtime treat. ............... it keeps me full and fuel my muscles for the night.0
