I don't know what my "healthy' weight is. The charts say about 125 lbs (I'm 5'3"). The only time I was ever there was when I didn't eat solid food for six months, so I totally disagree that that is in any way "healhy." In highschool I was 155. When I went vegan, I was around 145. When I was a raw foodist, I was 135. All of those felt "healthy"...but I think the best is somewhere between 135 and 145. So my goal is to first get into that range, try to go towards 140, and STAY THERE!
Anyways, the last five years, I haven't been able to go under 162. At all. Eight years ago I had a baby, and my full preggo weight was 165. So i was lingering around my pregnancy weight for the last five years. I'd run, and do all sorts of exercise, but refused to restrict my diet. Anyways, I just did three years of graduate school and almost everytime I weighed myself in those three years, I was 174lbs! More than I was when I was pregnant! OUCH!!!
I graduated last spring, and in December I was sure that my "stress free" life would have made me release it, but I was still 174.
So I cut out gluten and dairy (because I have allergies). And in the end of February, I got on MFP and started the 1200 cal diet.
And, as of this morning, I weight 157!!!
That's right, baby!
I'm 12 lbs from my first major goal! And have lost 17 lbs!!!!! My clothes are getting lose, my tight clothes are fitting me well, and I FEEL GREAT!
and I'm not starving myself.
and I'm NOT losing muscle mass!
Thank you thank you thank you MFP!

Wtg, that's great! It must feel awesome to be halfway to your goal.
As far as a healthy weight goes, I think basing it on your past and what you felt healthy at is best- 125lbs is my goal b/c I'm 5'2" and have always been below 125 until my 2nd son....so it doesn't feel "unhealthy" to me to be so small. In fact I will probably make my next final goal 115lbs once I reach 125....just b/c I've been that weight before and know that my frame is small enough to not look sickly thin at 115. I think it all depends on your frame really and how much muscle you have...
Keep us updated! I'm sure you'll reach your goal in no time!0
