I recently started paleo and I have been extremely bloated ever since (usually starts in the afternoon). It is SO uncomfortable! Does anyone else experience this?

too much meat? I bloat with too much I think that is why I've never liked to eat much. Or cared for it.0

I also recently started eating paleo and though while I really LIKE how full I feel on a reasonable amount of calories and how logical it is...I also get an uncomfortably full, bloated, sometimes gassy feeling in my gut. I googled around and it seems like this isn't uncommon. Part of it is that if you are used to eating carbs, you may have trouble figuring out a good portion size. Meat and fat keep you really FULL in a way that carbs do not. Also, I think sometimes I'm just eating when I'm in the habit of eating and not really paying attention to hunger signals. Some of the things I've been reading seem to be saying that people who eat a lot of carbs are used to LOW BLOOD SUGAR being the trigger for "hunger" and not having low blood sugar being the trigger for "fullness" and so maybe it's hard to get used to a hunger/fullness cycle that doesn't include low blood sugar.
Anyway, there are a bunch of questions on paleo hacks regarding this feeling. For me, it's like a packed-in feeling, similar to the way it felt to be 4-5 months pregnant (which I am definitely not) - just like my gut is really _stuffed_ and my stomach sticks out a bit.0 -
THAT is exactly how I feel!!! I don't eat any more meat than I usually would (before paleo) and wasn't huge on carbs before so I'm trying to figure it out. I also have GERD/acid reflux issues so maybe that has something to do with it. I kinda feel like I have food stuck in my esophagus!I also recently started eating paleo and though while I really LIKE how full I feel on a reasonable amount of calories and how logical it is...I also get an uncomfortably full, bloated, sometimes gassy feeling in my gut. Meat is known to be very acidic, so I am not surprised you are having issues.
This is why I prefer to practice everything in moderation. When I take in too much protein, especially via meat, I get appalling gas and bloat, which goes away when I balance it out with some baked potato or bread.0
