What to do with weights

I have bought 2x 1.5kg weights and also a 'shake weight' (was on sale haha)
No idea what to do with them, everyone keeps telling me technique is most important or I can injure myself so I am now cautious to use them until I have seen some stuff on how.
Ideally wanting chest/abs/back strength training, arms can't harm either.
My legs and bum are the firmest part of me somehow so they are less important I think (dancing/walking when younger maybe)
There is so mch out there on the Internet, can anyone help a total beginner like me and I mean absolute unfit, flabby beginner!

got to fitnessblender.com. that's the only place you will need. They are on youtube as well if you need it0

You'll also want to purchase heavier weights.0

I would first return the Shake Weight.
Then, do a search for programs and find one that you can stick with.
Doing cardio for your legs does not replace leg workouts! Definitely don't leave out things like squats. You can start with just body weight squats though.
You will progress quickly with the light weights that you have bought, so don't be surprised when you have to run back to the store and get loads more. I prefer adjustable weights for home use so I don't run into that problem as often.0 -

^^ yep. that low of a weight wont help you with toning/firming much at all. and the shake weight wont do anything.
do you have access to a gym? if so, a class like BodyPump (or something similar) would teach you the basics as a start.
additionally, there are several exercises using your own body weight that can help tone the upper body- push ups, dips (even against furniture), or hold those weight u bought and do a lot of punches/jabs to tone your arms.0 -

shake weight was under £5 it was more of a laugh than anything, If it has no use its still funny to get out at parties and talk about south park!
My sister gave me the weights and she has 2 sizes of heavier ones when I need them so if I do get through the light ones fast its no problemo.
The reason I did not want to focus on leg workouts is for some reason not sure why my legs are already the strongest part, so I wanted to focus on other parts to even it out and just do minumum on the ok areas if that makes sense?
What is a body squat? Every squat I ever did I just felt it the back of my thigh and no where else.
As others have asked the only reason i have the 1.5s is I thought start light as I have never even lifted a weight before.
I have no idea how much my handbag weighs but I doubt it is anywhere near that much with just some makeup and my wallet in it??
I do not have the confidence to join a gym just yet and with the hours I work its near impossible, but it is on the future horizon for the next year sometime when my shifts/job change and I can feel a bit better infront of others in the gym. I have such self-esteem issues sometimes it is hard to even walk round the shop without thinking everyone is staring at the fat-ugly-girl so a gym scares me.0 -

Thankyou so much for actually linking me something Seems this site has a lot of videos I can learn from however not found any on that site that use weights yet? Am I looking in the wrong place0 -
Start something like 30 Day Shred or another Jillian workout to incorporate the weights and get started on squats. Jillian may have her downfalls but 30DS is effective!0

I use bodybuilding.com for videos of weight training exercises.
If you do a squat correctly, you will feel it in much more than just the quads. I especially love what they do for my glutes and abs.
ETA: body weight squats are simply going through the motion of a squat without any additional weight. I prefer a loaded barbell across my traps, but when I started out, I used no extra weights and progressed my way upwards with weight.0 -

Try this website...
bodybuilding.com/exercises
You can click on the different muscle groups and it will bring up tons of excersizes... then you can use the tools on the side of the page to select which equipment you have available to you. Each excersize gives you a written description, still images, and a video example.
Good Luck!0
