BMR calories

Hey, I was just hoping to get some advice from people who have tried different things or researched a lot. Basically, I am just wondering if I should eat the standard 1200 cal diet that MFP has set me on, or should I eat my BMR calories at least every day to ensure that I don't "plateau?" My current body fat % is around 17%. I have a TDEE of around 1982 cals, and I have a BMR of about 1450 cals. I am 5'5'' 137 lbs and 24 yr old female... obviously lol. Anyways, I was just wondering what every body thought
I will say that I have a desk job, and I usually do a 30 min workout 3-5 times a week. That may be some good info to know? Idk

bump.
Our stats are very similar and I'd be curious to hear any advice. Except i'm 26 and at about 21% bf0 -
Maybe we can get some advice... haha.
21% is not bad, from what I have looked over! The "athelete" range for a female is 14%-20%. The "fitness" range is 21%-24%. The average is 25%-31%
Keep up the good work!0 -
How much are you looking to lose? This will determine your cut % from your TDEE.. so if you got under 10lbs to lose, then take a 10% cut from your TDEE and eat that number everyday.. Don't eat your standard 1200..0

That makes sense... So I should eat more than my BMR and just take whatevers lbs I want to lose, apply it as a percent off of TDEE? I don't want to get below 125. So, I would take 1982(TDEE) multiply it by .12, giving me 238.2, and then subtract that from the 1982, giving me 1743.8 cals/day?0

No I can see where you got confused.. less to lose you are just gonna do a 10 percent.. my mistake.. So if you want to lose 12 lbs.. take a 10 cut and eat that and see where you are in a few weeks. If you had say 30+ lbs to lose you could do a bigger cut like 20% for a bit and then readjust as you lost weight.0 -
Ok. Leave it to me to get confused... Thanks!
I was just worried about eating that many calories because I just finally got to where I have self-confidence again. I have this awful fear of ending back where I started. From what I have been looking up though, it does seem much better in the long run to follow this method, rather than the 1200 cal diet.0
