Do you really know what you're eating in those protein bars?

I came across a great article this morning while perusing through the health section of CNN. The article is about what is "really in" those protein bar snacks that claim to be nutritious.

Give it a read.

    Yes because:

    1. I know how to read a label or
    2. I make them myself

I think most of them are just junk food that's marketed as "health food".

Teehee, love the description of gelatin! Yes the process is a bit gross, but there isn't anything in gelatin that will do much harm, yet she goes on and on as if it were worse than the soy derivatives!

One man's/woman's junk food is another one's health food.

Agreed. Who said my double Big Mac couldn't be my protein bar? No one.

This. If people don't read food labels, then it's their fault.

Do church wafers count as protein since they contain Jesus meat?

Maybe you could just eat those instead.

Or, you know, actual meat. Which actually tastes good.

That was my thoughts exactly! I'd rather eat boiled animal parts (I do this quite often when making bone broth) than eat the other offensive ingredients like soy & HFC!

All protein bars are not created equal. I read my labels and make my choices from there. And sometimes I even make my own!

I had to look these up. Do they taste good? I still wouldn't eat them "all day long" as I prefer to eat meat, veggies, fruits and nuts, but I would consider them for days when I'm traveling or hiking or something... maybe.

They are the best protein bars I've ever tasted and I've true quite a lot. Lots of fiber too. Their newest flavor chocolate chip cookie dough is incredible.

I wouldn't eat them all day long either, since that much fiber would probably not be very comfortable (if ya know what I mean). But they are incredibly delicious! They are a very well rounded bar, probably an ideal on the road snack to hold you over between meals.
