  • Hi! I think most of the people here will tell you that we are not dieting, that we are changing our life styles....To me,I am dieting.I have searched for a scientific definition of it an I got this:

    1. The usual food and drink of a person or animal.
    2. A regulated selection of foods, as for medical reasons or cosmetic weight loss.
    3. Something used, enjoyed, or provided regularly: subsisted on a diet of detective novels during his vacation.
    adj.
    1. Of or relating to a food regimen designed to promote weight loss in a person or an animal: the diet industry.
    2.
    a. Having fewer calories.
    b. Sweetened with a noncaloric sugar substitute.
    3. Designed to reduce or suppress the appetite: diet pills; diet drugs.
    v. di·et·ed, di·et·ing, di·ets
    v.intr.
To eat and drink according to a regulated system, especially so as to lose weight or control a medical condition.
    v.tr.
To regulate or prescribe food and drink for.

So yeah,we are all dieting, and eating all I fancied in the past got me here, fat and trying to loose weight.I would never listen to what my body wants, because usually it asks for sweets and chocolate.I have to follow a plan or it won't work out, for me

As much as I love reading Fitness or Women's Health, the articles always seem to be geared toward women who want to lose weight quickly with very little mental or physical exertion needed, and this article seems to fit that bill. So I worry about people dieting by eating what they want, when they want, and then wondering why they aren't losing the weight because such and such diet says it's okay. The reality is people are going to continue eating way too much food way too often, but because THIS diet says it's okay, they're going to tell themselves they're on a diet and then it will fail like it usually does and they'll wonder why.

That being said, there are some things that were written that ring true for me. I don't limit myself on any foods. I had a bowl of cereal last night (chocolate frosted flakes) because I'd been having cravings for cereal and that was all that was in the apartment. I've splurged on late-night icecream and chocolate, but I've made it fit into my current diet plan, not tacked it on or told myself I can eat as much of it as I want. Moderation is key. There's a lovely little book out there called The Martini Diet and I love some of the ideas in it: everything in moderation and treat yourself like a queen. Eat the best foods out there, but only have a little bit of it. Savor it. Take delight in it. And then put down your fork and let your body thank you for not going overboard.
  • I am dieting and it works for me. Everyone is different and different ways of dieting work for them.
