xanax hindering weight loss

Hi...I have been taking 1 milligram of xanax every night for a year and a half due to issues I was going through...I used to be able to lose weight quickly however since xanax I find it difficult to lose weight...I was wondering if any one else has gone thru this...I am not gaining but it seems much harder to lose weight...I recently cut back to .50 xanax each night and eventually want off of it all together...Thanks...

that's a pretty low dose of xanax. it may in fact not be the xanax that is creating the difficulty in weight loss but some other thing you are doing concurrently. it is easy to attribute our weight gain or not losing weight to medications. If you are sure it is the xanax then there is not a lot you can do because you obviously need the medication or you wouldn't be taking it.
I take 50 mg of Zoloft daily and have been on antidepressants for over 15 years. I have gained weight sure but I also eat like a bunch of wolverines. It took me a long time to admit that it was the amount of food I was eating and not the medication. One of the symptoms of my depression is that I overeat instead of undereat. that might be another factor in your weight gain or inabliaty to lose weight.
Just some things to think about. Thanks for posting your question. Good one.0 -
