The easiest way to take sodium down when you're making chili at home is to soak and cook your own beans instead of using canned. ESPECIALLY if you usually use the "chili beans" that have sauce - the seasoning in that sauce has a lot of sodium. You can replicate a chili sauce with tomato paste, tomato sauce (both of which come canned with no added salt) and salt-free chili seasoning (I like Penzey's Chili 9000).

Ms. Dash makes a lot of salt-free seasonings that are really good! I use them almost solely when I cook.

I would make my own beans and steam my tomatoes and chilies.

thank you the chilli seasoning has a killer about of salt. THe kidney bean I going to rinse they a salt free and the tomato sauce and the canned tomato's are really low in sodium. Thank you all for you help.
