Rest day

Is it still a rest day if you walk for 30 minutes? I recently started taking a rest day one day a week, because I have read it is important for your body to repair. I hate it! I want to workout on that day and the next day I don't want to workout. I have also read that it is okay to walk on a rest day. Will my heart still repair itself if I choose to walk every day of the week and also do my 3 30 minute cardio workouts with 3 15 minute strength workouts?

If you want to walk on a rest day, walk on a rest day. Some people believe in active recovery, too. Basically some gentle movement but keeping well in heart rate zone 1. I walk and stretch on my rest days most of the time. I think it helps loosen up the tight muscles that would otherwise be worse.0

Thanks for the advice
I think I might walk.

Am I reading this right? You do 90 minutes of cardio AND 45 minutes of strength six days a week?
That's a lot of time to spend exercising!
I do a 30 minute light cardio workout on my rest days, but that's it. I work really hard on my workout days, and I am not in the best shape yet, so I need my rest days. I don't think it hurts to move a little, though.0 -
NO :flowerforyou: Not a day.
I walk 6 days a week.
I do 30 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes of strength on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. For a total of 90 minutes of cardio and 45 strength a week ( not including walking which is 30 to 60 minutes a day ).
Does that make sense?0 -
I walk on my "rest" days. Not brisk walk or go for a hill climb, just a nice gentle walk. I stretch a bit, too.0

I walk on my "rest" day too. The dog doesn't know it's a rest day and she loves to go every day at the same time. LOL0

Much more sense! Sounds close to my routine. LOL
If you want advice on how to work out, Lupercalia is a beast. If she says walk/stretch, that's what I will do tomorrow. (Still not going to do kettlebells, though!)0
