Working out and I look terrible!

I went through a loooooong difficult period in my life and i completely let myself go. I gained a lot of weight (i think due to depression) and i stopped exercising except for walking. Before a life crisis that happened 7 years ago, I had always kept in shape and exercise was as much a part of my life as brushing my teeth. I was an athlete when I was younger and did a triathlon 8 years ago.

In the past several years I made some attempts to get back in shape but I never had the energy to keep with it.

Well, i am happy to say that ! have gotten back into the swing of really working out and it feels as if I have reclaimed the part of me that had exercise as a fundamental part of my life. It has only been three weeks but I am getting stronger andI feel great. Unfortunately, though, I look like cr*p. I look haggard. I swear that my face is puffy and my cheeks are sagging. I basically look like I've aged 10 years.

Does anyone have an explanation for this? I'm not overdoing it. I know what it feels like to over do it and it doesn't feel this good. I just look terrible!

Yes............that used to happen to me a lot. Every time I tried to lose weight , I would look haggard and my friends would comment that I am looking much older. And I am the sort who always looks good for my age. But this time I was determined to be healthy and lose the extra flab. No wonder my appearance took it's toll. I did some research and started using a retinol cream. This is my best investment. All the fine lines gradually vanished. My face looks smooth , wrinkle free and great. Keep your skin hydrated and moisturized. A body massage is a good idea too. I f you cannot afford one at the spa, you can arrange with a friend to give massage to each other...............on different days of course. Giving a full body massage for half an hour will burn calories too. And the day you get it, you will sleep like a baby.

When ever you start working out more or changing your routine, your body kind of freaks out at first. It will hold onto everything before it figures out what is going on. Make sure you are drinking a ton of water, you want to flush every thing out! Make sure you are eating well, too! It really is a balance making sure everything is working together! Getting enough sleep is so important, also! It's when your body is healing itself! The retinol cream is a great idea. You just want to take care of inside, out, muscles and skin!

Congrats on getting back to it! Don't let this discourage you at all!
