Reversing hypometabolism - anyone in a similar situation?

Recently started seeing a nutritionist, was told I am hypometabolic and have excess fat storage around my vital organs due to years of unhealthy eating (periods of very low-intake days followed by very high-intake days, or months of one or the other). I am a normal weight (5'4" and 125lbs) and want to really work through relearning my eating habits and developing a consistent and healthy diet and outlook! Also was told I have to eat a ton of protein (~100g daily with 30-40 at each meal) and take enzyme pills because my body has learned to keep food in my stomach without digesting it...anyway is anyone/has ever been in a similar situation? This is all very new/somewhat scary info and i'm not sure of the implications so any knowledge or advice is appreciated!
