OK, I'm only half serious about that! LOL But really! I had my appendix out 10 days ago. I was in the hospital for 3 days. I was eating regular food (and pretty darn good, too) and they still wouldn't take my IV out! Grrrrr. I gained TEN pounds! I have lost all but one pound. I know most of it was water weight. I am almost back to normal now but I'll bet if someone came up with an IV fluid which didn't cause weight gain and still kept you healthy, they would make a fortune!

They are pumping fluid into you!!! High cal, low cal, no cal you're still going to gain weight.0

The IV solution is typically saline. It has a balanced ratio of sodium and water. Sodium= salt which causes excess fluid retention= assists in keeping one hydrated. That's exactly why you gained 10 lbs. Just watch your sodium intake and drink lots of water and it should help.0
