So tomorrow night I'm being taken out to a Vietnamese restaurant (I know lucky me right!) first of all I have never been to a Vietnamese restaurant before so I have no idea what there will be. But what I really want to ask is what shall I order? I know I won't be able to know the exact calories in it but I want something with low calories obviously, but with never having eaten Vietnamese before I won't know what is good! Help please!?

The only Vietnamese restaurants I know of are the pho restaurants.

The dishes are basically noodles in broth with your choice of beef or shrimp etc. I'd reckon the smaller size contains fewer calories.

In addition to Pho, there are also lots of Vietnamese stir-fry type dishes-- similar to what you'd get in a Thai or Chinese restaurant, with similar warnings (e.g., avoid deep fried; be prepared to deal with a huge plate of rice), but also some similar delights such as eggplant and savory vegetables.

The fish is usually a good bet, too. It will likely be cooked in a clay pot with some wonderfully savory sauce and vegetables and not too heavy.

It depends on what you like, soup, rice, crepes, spring rolls? But since you're new to Vietnamese food, I recommend

appetizer: Cha gio (fried spring rolls) or goi cuon (cold spring rolls)

Main course: "com suon bi cha" = broken rice, pork chop, a version of pork meat loaf, super fine pork skin and veggies or "pho tai" = beef noodle soup without all the tendons. Really, you can pig out at a Vietnamese restaurant and not do that much damage since everything is vegetables heavy.
