So excited to be heading on a cruise! Will definitely be weighing myself before and after, and definitely not tracking anything while I am away. I have cruised before, and know that I don't normally gain weight on a cruise with all the healthy options, and the tons of walking.

But at the same time, will be curious if I am able to make great choices while on board, even the chocolate melting cake indulgence once or twice, and still maintain.

Anyone else have this experience while trying to lose weight?

I haven't been on a cruise in many years.

I did eat a lot, because I wanted to. But we did do a lot of walking with the sight seeing.

The gym was also amazing because the treadmills looked out over the water, so it also felt like a holiday, but it was exercises!

Enjoy you're holiday, keep in mind the calories, but don't worry too much if you go over
  • We did our first cruise last year and I gotta say I didn't track anything, I was drinking fresh banana cocktails most of the day and gained 4lbs BUT I wasn't bothered, it was our silver anniversary cruise and I was gonna enjoy every minute of it. Have fun and get back on MFP when you get back, don't worry while you're away.

I haven't been on one in a few years, and when I was, I wasn't watching my health. However, I do know that many now have wonderful gyms and healthy options! My friend went on one awhile back that even had group exercise classes!

My mother-in-law just came back from a 5 week caribbean cruise (!) and was delighted at how she'd lost weight. There's loads of healthy choices and lots of exercise and dancing classes to go to.

It's all about choosing the right things - but make sure you still have the best time ever!!!!
  • Have fun on the cruise. Just eat "normal" most of time. Pick the broiled, baked etc. Eat a lot of salads w/out (or very little) dressing. Save your "fun" for what you like. Wine, dessert or whatever. Just try not to "binge"!!! I have this problem when going out to events or dinner/parties with friends. I do so good on food, have a few glasses of wine but... then I get home and pig out!! I am going out this Sat. and my goal is good food, a few glasses of wine and then off to bed. NO BINGE!!

    Have a great time.

No but if you plan on any alcohol, bring your own, they charge you an arm n a leg for drinks! In fact the only free drinks are water, coffee, & tea. It's a vacation have fun and eat plenty of seafood, it's generally lower in calories. Watch out for the tropical fruits high in calories... Run or swim every day

Any cruise i have ever been on, has obviously been well planned out in advance so i always tried to lose 5 extra pounds before going. I am usually sucessful with this. I am not going on a cruise to diet, i'm going to live and have fun.

Eat, drink and be merry. Just dont OVER EAT. that's all =)

Make sure upon your return you start back at it immediately!

Honestly, life is too short and there are too few vacations for me to worry about tracking calories during one. That being said, I have been on a cruise before, ate whatever I liked AND lost weight anyway!
