I know the whole process of losing weight is scary and seems so daunting. I used to feel the same way. I had 135 lbs to lose and thought it would take forever and hesitated and tried schemes, etc.

Then I remember one day thinking "So what if it takes awhile. So what if I focus on the small, healthy losses...that take a long time....so what if it takes a year". The fact is, time is going to go by anyway. So whether you chose to live a healthier life and lose weight slowly and healthy with that time.....or stay where you are.....that time will still go by.

The thing that kept me going was thinking of getting to a point a year later and knowing what I could have accomplished in that time but didn't. So I just kept on going. I wanted to get to a year and see a significant change. And I did! All in all it took me 16 months to get to my goal. I lost the bulk of the weight in that year and as I got into a healthier range it slowed down of course. And that's ok.

I think letting go of the time and feeling pressured is when you start seeing success.

Also, if you mess up one day, don't let it derail you. It's ONE day. Not your life. Not that week, month, year. It's ONE day. It doesn't have to define you as a success or failure. And in fact, the day you stop expecting perfection will be so freeing. :)

Best of luck! You've got this!!!

thanks for this. i have lost a grand total of 2-3 pounds since jan 1, 13. i lost the major part of my weight last year. so losing over 100 pounds and now i have hit a stand still was hard to take. everyday is a struggle. i just keep pushing. i have about 20 pounds left to lose. my trainer told me monday, that it could take a year or more to lose it and just accept where i am at and let it go. it will come off when my body decides it's time. he asks me what happens when i hit that "magic" number? that makes you think why you have to weigh a certain amount. it's so much a mind game sometimes.
thanks again. i so needed this today.

I know. These last pounds are the hardest because your body isn't as ready to let them go since you are "healthy" even if you aren't at the number you want to be. You know sometimes just shaking things up a bit at the gym or changing what you're eating....maybe do a cleanse for two days...can shake up your body enough to get over a hump.

I am not a fan of fad diets, etc...but I do a 5 day cleanse 1 or 2 times a year. It's a food cleanse but no salt, additives. It really feels great and you jumpstart your system! :)
