So I popped into the new gym last night, looks pretty good, dunno why we can't start till 26th but hey.

Have decided I might have some PT sessions to help A) make me work B) make sure I do it properly and C) I am completely clueless about what I should do for the results I want.

During my reccy last night I spoke to a few people, one of whom was one of the PT's *hubba hubba whoooooo hoooooo* great advertisement  Would probably more of a distraction haha

I did pick up cards for all the others and have emailed everyone for prices.

After all of that my question is how or why did you picked your PT?

I'd probably check them out here http://www.exerciseregister.org/members/member-search

They'd have to know more about something that I am interested in learning, than I already do.
Ideally I'd like to see a track record if possible, and then I'd probably see if I could do a half hour session. If they started talking buzz words or pseudo science, the relationship would be over.

I was taking classes at my gym, and had asked about personal trainers, I had an appointment to meet one, she never showed.

I was talking to one of the instructors about it one day and she told me that at the gym I was at that while the gym price was $60/hour, the trainers only got paid $12/hour so if I found one I could trust, ask them outside the gym if they trained outside the gym. I thought some more about it, and while I was considering it, the ownership of the gym changed hands.
I asked one of the class instructors, who I had become friends with, if she or someone she knew was a trainer (she was just starting out as a trainer so I got a lower rate and I actually followed her to the gym I'm at now-which I would have done anyway since the old gym dropped the Les Mills classes)

I went to my local gym where I am a member and they paired me up with someone when I explained what I was after.

I'm really lucky, my PT is a really awesome guy, not just a total meat head who works out to look good but a genuine passion for fitness (he is a Triathlete), we have a laugh and a bit of banter and he actually makes my training more bearable.

Personally my advice would be to try a few, if you feel you get on with them then stick with them if not - try another person. Some people just are not compatible.

My tip would be to chose a trainer who has a passion for a particular sport. The only reason I say this is because they are more interested in your general fitness levels too, not just about looking good. I would avoid one who pushes you to take lots of supplements too.

London pricing is on another planet, you'll just have to compare similar service prices.
