Elliptical and Reading Simultaneously

Does anyone work out on a cardio machine while reading? I bought an iPad specifically for this purpose. I also put on some headphones to play a constant static noise to help me focus on what I'm reading. My job consumes about 10 to 12 hours per day (with travel) while going to college part time. I'm trying to do the best time management by reading my college text book (on online e-book) while getting more calories that I can eat back (I love to eat!). The elliptical says I burn about 800 calories after a good one hour workout, so I think the end result is the same, burning calories while doing some reading for school. Does anyone else do this or is this a no-no?

I don't see why not. I can't read on the elliptical, I'm moving around too much and I lose my place. The only thing to watch out for is that you are keeping your energy up and you are working as hard as you can. I watch TV on the elliptical and if I get to absorbed I notice I am not trying to hard on the machine.
Other than that, go for it! Best of luck!0
