Nutrition label accuracy

Hello,

I'm not sure which label I should follow in terms of total calories per serving. for example, a package of ground turkey says that each serving is 220 calories. The macro's for this product are as follows:

Fat: 11
Carbs: 0
Protein: 21

When you do the math as 9 calories for Fat and 4 for Protein you get a total of 183. Thats 37 calories (17%) less per serving. If I have a few servings the extra calories can add up quick, especially when on a caloric deficit. What are these extra calories and which label is the most accurate?

    It's all estimates

When in doubt, go with the higher number.

I agree, go with the higher number.

Even the 9-4-4 counts are estimates, by the way. Carbs vary from 3.7-4.1 calories per gram, fats 9.2-9.4, protein is about 4.1, but the values get rounded to the closest whole number.
