They are super fun, but a lot of them don't meet my 'price per mile' guidelines. If its a 5k, $50 dollars, AND I have to pay for gas to go to the middle of nowhere and parking (looking at you, Temecula Zombie Run), I'm out. But yeah, my inner child gets to play in the mud. I'm all about that.

Just did a Warrior Dash last month and it was a lot of fun. Actually had to buy some of the pictures from it b/c I was actually SMILING in them. I was bruised and bloody when it was done and within a week, I signed up to do it again the next year (since if I signed up right away, it was only $30). There are some that are more macho than the one I did if you want even more to be proud of.

Absolutely. I hate running, but I had so much fun running Tough Mudder. I highly recommend them. Something about running in mud, swimming through ice and being electrocuted appeals to me much more than a half or full marathon.

He11s yes! Go for it! I did a mud run last August and am addicted. It got me into running more so that I could handle doing them. it was so much fun and the camaraderie amongst everyone was great. My friend and I have three planned for this season. Doing a zombie run in April to kick it off and I CANNOT wait!

Absolutely! Why is this a question? I've done a mud run and a Warrior Dash. Tough Mudder is next on the list  It makes you feel like you're living out your childhood dream of being on one of those Nickelodeon TV games shows like Guts or Wild And Crazy Kids or Legends of the Hidden Temple.

They are so worth it. It is one of my new passions. Last year I did Warrior Dash, Gladiator run and a foam fest. I love them.

Hoping to do this in July - seems like $50 is the cheapest for an obstacle/mud race.

I also would think it depends on your experience.. I would think they wouldn't be AS fun if you ran it yourself.... but seems like, from all the videos I have no experience, everyone has a blast and is inclusive to everyone else running - i.e. helping others not in their specific group/team.

I would like to do the Spartan Race in August as well.... maybe next year the Tough Mudder... scary

Just go run on the trails during a storm and when it's been pouring rain the week prior. You'll have miles and miles of chocolate pudding to run through.

Yes. They're a blast, especially doing them with a group of people. It's so much more than running.

Mud runs are so much more appealing to me than paying to have colored cornstarch blasted all over me.

I've ran Half Marathons and I've done the warrior dash... I wish they would take the running OUT of the mud runs and just make it an obstacle course :) The running part really lames it down, but sadly I don't know of any pure obstacle course events.

Looks like fun and I registered for the Dirty Girl mud run in August. Sadly, none of my friends are interested so I'm hitting it solo but I'm still excited about it!

Agreed. It will still be fun and honestly I bet you bond with at least one person there. I've never seen so many people helping other people they didn't know before my first mud run!

I purposely saved a pair of worn out shoes to use on my WD.

I actually still wear my shoes I wore for Tough Mudder. Ran them through the wash and they are good to go.

    They're awesomesauce.

Did my first Tough Mudder this past October. Just signed up for another one in June and the Spartan Race in September. Totally addictive. Totally fun.
