I'm gonna start taking one because I know I don't get enough good stuff in me. I was just wondering which one is a good one to take. Does it matter? Are they all the same? I have no clue! Can someone help me out? Thanks

My understanding is that they are not all the same - there is a reason you can get some at the grocery store/drugstore for $8 a botttle, and the same quantity of the higher end brands are $25. According to my research (my naturopathic doctor, reading, internet, and Dr. Weil - check out his natural health website all about vitamins) the cheaper brands are not well absorbed (some as low as 10% of the vitamins and minerals) and are full of fillers (my ND said a tell tale sign is if they are "pressed" into pill form - they need to use fillers to ensure the uniform size - look for vitamins that are in gel capsules).

My ND says GNC brands are good (better asborption than the less expensive kinds); however she favours Genstra Brands; Thorne Research, and SiSu. They can be found at Whole Foods, or at your local health food store / homeopathic remedies store.

Good luck! Do a little research to see what brand is for you! I find my vitamins make a HUGE difference in my energy and how I'm feeling (especially the B complex).

I am not sure about the vitamin K specifically, I know those are the only ones my MIL can take because she can't have any sugar AT ALL. This brand of vitamins has also been tested and shown to disolve better. I took one of my walmart ones and one of these in a glass of water... much better. They also have chewables for the kids that my daughter likes. Here is the blurp from the site.

People with sensitivities can still get 100% or more of the Daily Value for 12 essential vitamins and 7 minerals with this unique multi.
Nutrilite® Daily Free may have the nutritional punch you are looking for, in a convenient, once-a-day tablet. This multivitamin is packed with vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients from our exclusive Watercress Concentrate. Certified kosher and halal.

My understanding is that vitamin K is used to prevent excessive bleeding, and is not needed to the regular population. There has also been some media coverage lately about routinely giving it to babies (we don't in Canada anymore)... here is an excerpt from http://www.womens-health.co.uk/vitk.asp

"Vitamin K deficiency is a rare but preventable disease. However, treatment for this deficiency has come under fire lately as being possibly linked to an increased risk of leukemia. But is this risk fact or fiction? If your newborn recieves a vitamin K treatment at birth, is she more likely to develop leukemia?..."

Bottom line, I don't think we all need this vitamin in large dosages, outside of what we get in food.

Vitamins A D E and K are all fat soluable vitamins. In excess..they can damage your body because they are stored in your fat cells, hurts your kidneys and liver. Any other vitamin is water soluable, so excess will be flushed out with water. New research is showing that people need about 1000 mgs or vitamin D though, it is proven to help with the winter depression that sometimes happens.
    Good luck!

correct! at least, according to my specialist, i've always been told vitamin K is not necessary besides what we get from the food we eat. i get dvt's because of a lupus anticoagulant and antiphospholipid in my blood, so i have to take coumadin(blood thinner). there have been times when they've thinned it too much and i had to take an EXTREMELY small dose of vitamin K.
