HIITS running

does anyone routinely do HIITS on their regular runs? I have been training for a half that is coming up in April. On my "regular" runs that are supposed to be "easy" I have been throwing in fast intervals just to make the runs a little more interesting. Should I really be only doing those on my interval days though??

i feel like there's something missing from the question. if you're just asking if it's ok or not, then that's totally up to you! there's nothing inherently wrong with it.

You should ONLY do those on your interval days. There is a reason why your training is set up the way it is because you NEED an easy day. I get what you're saying. When I was training for my first half quite a few years ago I had two easy days: one was at a 9:30 and the other at a 10 minute mile pace and yeah, it felt really boring and I felt like I could obviously go faster but I knew that my body needed to recover from all the other runs that I had done during the week.

Since the HM is about 98% aerobic, then you should be concentrating on doing aerobic running. HIIT, is not aerobic.
