Any snowboarders or skiiers out there?

I was hoping that maybe any fellow snowboarders/skiiers could help me out. I am wanting an application for my phone that tracks my speed, runs, calories burned, etc etc. Does anyone like a particular app? I am going this weekend and would really like to see my progress. Thanks in advance snow peeps!!! :D

Run Keeper is a great App that I use. It tracks everything. I use it for when I'm walking. It will tell me how far I went, how long, the calories burned and my pace.

It has all types of activities to choose from. I just checked and it has snowboarding, down hill skiing, hiking, biking, rowing etc on there. Although, I have only used the walking and jogging so I can't promise how good it is for the other activites.

I tried an app called Alpine Replay this year. Pretty decent and free app. It distinguishes the time you spend on the slope between slope time, resting and lifting. It gives you information about calories burned, speed, jumps, vertical drop, distance etc.

TMI. Skiing and boarding are for enjoying. Not for logging. MFP has skiing listed in the exercises you can log. It is undoubtedly imperfect. But it is probably good enough. If you want to make progress, skip lunch. Or, just eat half your lunch. But, don't turn a wonderful outdoor experience into a grind.
Sorry. I am no help. But, maybe, I am some perspective.

I guess I didn't phrase what I was trying to say correctly. I want to see my improvement for snowboarding, calories burned is just a bonus as far as I am concerned. Skipping lunch is not an option as you burn more then 2000 calories in 5 hours of boarding. I just wanted to find out how much time I actually spend boarding, how much speed I can catch, etc etc.

Do not under any circumstances skip lunch! :noway: You will burn tons of calories snowboarding and will need the energy. Food is the fuel that will keep you going strong. Have a great time.

From personal experience I can say that skipping lunch on a day's boarding is a bad idea! We did it once in an attempt to get as many runs in as possible before the end of the day, and by the last run we were falling over every 2 minutes as our legs literally couldn't hold us up anymore!

I was just wondering how to log in number of minutes/hours snowboarding or skiing. Snowboarding IS a really great work out! This winter I went about 2-4 times a week and I did not even count it as exercise, but it really is! I lost about 6 pounds this winter without dieting (I honestly didn't even realize I was working out half the time)! So my question is: Do you just log that you went for 5 hours or do you log how many minutes you were actually just going down?

I feel like you would still burn calories skating from one lift to another, and sitting on the lift holding your board up is probably burning calories and you don't even realize it. But for logging purposes what are you supposed to log?
    Thank you guys!!

I think it's pretty personal. If I'm killing it one day (park, heavy pow, hiking to different spots, whatever I'm up to) I'll just say it was 5 hrs. If I'm just cruising around hitting small stuff, or riding with "less experienced folk" and sticking to groomers, I'd call it what it is, and only log the time cruising as burning cals. If groomers are super tough for you, that could be your day of "killing it" and log 5 hrs, etc. (Obviously, I'll suggest you leave out lunch/other lengthy breaks, but a cpl mins to catch your breath will still result in cals burned!).

It's definitely a burn though. I moved to Europe this year and didn't get to ride. My muscles turned to jelly and I gained a fair bit of weight without my daily shred! That's what motivatd me to join MFP in the first place.
