Hi All

I have a question on fat calories. If I stay within my overall calories for each day but exceed my fat calories will I still lose weight?

TIA

Yes, because you are still burning more calories than you are consuming.

Well that's a relief because I got very heavy handed on the olive oil in the dressing for my quinoa salad today lol.

I have a real hard time staying within those Macros, the protein, sugar, carbs, etc. But I (MOST OF THE TIME) stay within my calories, or under. This is only my first week of really tracking what I eat, so we will see.

I often go over on sugar. I eat a lot of fruit. I guess I have a sweet tooth even if I am not eating cane sugar! STRAWBERRIES ARE AMAZING. We just got our first in season strawberries from Spain. I know they are in season now and delicious in Florida right now. MMMM. So much goodness with so little calories!

Yes and no IMO. It depends what kind of fat you're talking about, and how much. If you eat a lot of cheese, fat meats or fried food, even under your calorie goal, it's not really gonna be healthy for you. Olive oil is fine though (I swear every time I go over it's because I had olive oil lol).

The automatic macro settings for MFP are pretty off base in my opinion anyway. As long as it comes from the right place fat is good for you. Women especially need to eat quite a bit of fat. It (along with protein) also keeps you full for longer.

If it bothers you to see that red number but you're always on track with total kcal, you can always go in and manually change your fat goal.
