I love Les Mills! I just order the programs to do at home because 1)I have two little kids and no time for classes or the gym 2) it ended up being cheaper in the long run. Check out my blog for results on all the work outs I've done : http://www.fitfiercemama.blogspot.com

Enough for what? Weight loss? Fitness? Strength?

In any case they are great classes and will help will all the above! I've lost around 2 stone doing most of their programmes including Body Pump, Attack, Combat, Balance - there is plenty to choose from, and each programme will have different focuses so it really depends on what you want to achieve. If you get a really good balanced programme and your gym offers all the classes then I don't think you would need to do much else, I do sometimes run outside of the classes and do higher weights than I would do in pump, but other than that Les Mills classes are fab, go for it and enjoy :)
  • They are AMAZING <3 especially the new GRIT programs, they fire up your fitness quickly and give you great tone. I do these once to twice a week, and normally try to throw in a body attack class once a week too. If you want to build some good muscle tone I recommend classes more like body pump, that aren't so cardio-related and actually have some weights. If you're calorie counting, body attack burns some 700 calories in the hour, it's hard work but fantastic.

I like the Les Mills classes. My favorites are Combat (kickboxing), Pump and Flow/Balance (yoga/pilates). I am pretty close to goal weight and did not necessarily feel like I made huge improvements in terms of weight loss or muscle growth doing the classes, but I do them for 2 reasons. If I get out of the routine of going to the gym, or are lacking motivation for some reason, going to the classes helps me get back into the swing of things. If I'm in a rut, I would seriously go to the gym, start on the elliptical, go for 5 or 10 minutes and then think "Yeah, I'm not into this" and leave. I would never do that in a class.

The only class I regularly go to now is BodyFlow because I have tight hips and when my workout intensity increases I end up with lower back issues related to my hips. The stretching part of Flow is my reward after a hard week of workouts!!

Like another person said, I am OBSESSED with the new Les Mills GRIT high intensity interval training small group classes. They are pricey at my gym ($100 for a 10 punch card on top of the gym membership) but have been totally worth it. They are really difficult and I have seen amazing results in the 5 weeks I have been doing it. I go twice a week and have the same trainer at both sessions so he is getting to know me and my abilities enough that he can tell when I'm really trying and when I'm slacking off, and he will call me out immediately! I also like that they cap the session at my gym to 6 people, so the group is small and we actually are getting to know each other a little bit.

As far as results, I've lost 5lbs and 1 pants size in the past month, have seen noticeable improvement in my lung capacity when running, am starting to see muscle definition in my arms (never happened before!), and almost daily someone mentions that I look like I'm losing weight or that I "look good" (in a not creepy way). Also, and I don't share this in "real life", I have had urinary incontinence issues since my 2 pregnancies (which were VERY close together) due to weak core muscles, even with taking core classes like Les Mills CXWorx, and after 3 weeks of GRIT (6 sessions) that has completely resolved.
