resting injury

I injured a flexor tendon (I think) in my right forearm 6-days ago karate chopping some sod with a hand trowel. It's mildly better but still hurts and sounds squeaky and creaky.
This resting business--it's just resting that particular part of the body, right? As a mother of two, I can't really but I haven't been doing my total body weighted routines. I miss them. My whole routine was thrown for a loop.
I just wanted to clarify. I've still been trying to get some cardio in but saw it mentioned in an online article that rest actually meant...rest. (R.I.C.E)
