I am thinking about making the big switch to this eating style. Probably follow the more primal side of things since it allows some dairy, I have a couple books ordered but they are not here yet. My question is about "grass fed beef" vs "corn fed beef" and organic natural meats in general. I live in one of the biggest beef producing states in the country and the majority of our beef is corn fed. Will it really make that big of a difference if I eat corn fed at half the cost vs the grass fed which doubles the price around here? I already eat a lot of venison, which is obviously all natural, but I was just wondering what your thoughts are on meats and it being organic or natural. I am not sure I can afford to feed my family of 4 if I go that route completely, especially since the largest food group is meat protein on this style. If I can't afford all organic meats should i even bother to try the diet at all? So, how important is it and will it wreck the point of the diet? Thanks for any feedback.

the problem with corn fed beef is that cows were not made to eat corn. that's why we have issues with e. coli in this day an age - because cows have not evolved to thrive on corn. they do best on grass. you can eat corn fed beef, sure, but it won't be paleo. it's up to you if you think it would negate the rest of the diet or not. maybe give it a try and see how you feel, and if paleo is something you decide to stick with you can transition to grass-fed slowly as you become more able.

Buy what you can afford. If grain fed is that, then trim the fat off and supplement your fat with coconut oil, butter or other animal fat.

The fat is where the imbalance in the Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio that leads to inflammation.
