I'm out of town for a while and I'm trying to find something I can send my wife... I miss her :/ and I'm trying to think of something outside of flowers and candy. Any thoughts ladies? What would you like to receive??

a spa certificate, maybe? If you have children, maybe arrange a sitter for a girls night for her?

I like the sitter idea, get the sitter and then maybe organize a surprise spa date with her best friend...

glad you like my idea! As a mom of 3, I know I would LOVE something like that.. and one can simply not ever spend too much time with her b.f.f. :)

A gift certificate for a pedicure and one for a shoe store, as well as the babysitter. I mean arranging for a babysitter, not a gift certificate for a babysitter, the selling of humans is frowned upon.

A handwritten love letter. Seriously. The more effort put into the presentation, the better.

One time, I bought some parchment and wrote a girl a love letter on it, then I aged it in the oven to give it a yellowed look, burned the edges with a lighter, rolled it up, wrapped it in ribbon then sealed it with wax.

Which war did you participate in?

I've gotten her the mani/pedi thing before in the past as well as the massage thing, I thought about sending her a preloaded visa card and arranging a shopping trip.

My panties are damp... lol. My wife would say something sarcastic, but cool idea.

Good idea, but I'm working 12 hour shifts overnight, and in the middle of finals week in school, and I'm on the road in a hotel...

So just modify the idea? Don't bother with the aging. Get some really nice stationary, write her a love letter in your BEST cursive, roll it up, tie a ribbon around it, then send it to her. Remind her of the first time you fell in love with her. I'm sure that you have plenty of inside love jokes from the beginning of your relationship that will make her melt when you remind her of them.

Good ideas so far. Thanks everyone!
  • * If he is away, all I want is to have him back and lock him in our room BUT if that's not an option so:
    * romantic letter with a promise or two inside
    * pink or red roses sent to my place

    Do something creative man.

Send her a card with an "I love you" message and some cool instructions on it, eg "To receive the gift I brought you, you must do some thinking. Open your computer, go to Google mail (or Hotmail etc) and log in with this email and password (choose whatever email/password you want). In your inbox, have an email with your favourite quotes or weddings vows or whatever. Leave further instructions in the email, eg log into Facebook with the same email and password. And on Facebook have a bunch of your favourite pictures together or something and leave a message on the wall with further instructions, eg go to YouTube and log in with the same email and password and have watch the favourite video. And on YouTube have the video be something you both love, eg a song or film trailer etc. Then tell her (from the same Facebook post) to go back to the email but this time go to the Drafts or Junk section to receive a link to the actual gift you want to buy her and tell her to call you when she gets to the last message.

Why go through all that? Well, she's got all these great memories brought back to her and she'll be all "lovey dubby" and so whatever you buy her, she'll be happy.

Or you could just buy her jewellery.

Can you draw? If so, sketch something for her. Sing? Record yourself singing a love song.

Play to your strengths man. Think about what she loves about you.

I think the spa day idea is fantastic, particularly if she's at home with the children!
Also, what about getting a babysitter and paying for her and her best friend to go out for dinner? If she's at home with the kids while you're away, I bet she's craving some time with adults! (That was not meant to sound as weird as it did, but you know what I mean!)

The fact that you're willing to do anything at all speaks volumes about your devotion to your wife.

    Well done, sir.
