Health issues?

I was on a low carb diet for 9 months and only lost 20 lbs. I have now started this and I'm not sure but I think my pancreas could be in overload. It felt like my kidneys were hurting and my belly, where in diagrams it shows the pancreas to be was hurting and still is. Could there be issues?

This is most certainly without a doubt something that should be brought up to a doctor. Please, do so post haste! Do not ask the advice of random internet strangers for serious medical problems!

It says this at the bottom of the screen for a reason!

Pancreas in overload? That is not a diagnosis. You need to see a doctor. Belly pain should not be ignored or self diagnosed.

the diagrams you see in biology textbooks don't look like real human insides, so you can't say, just because you have a pain where a biology textbook has a diagram of a pancreas, that the pain is in your pancreas. Your internal organs are rather more jumbled up than diagrams lead you to believe. The most likely cause of any abdominal pain is gas pains, i.e. a build up of gas in your intestines. Your intestines fill most of your abdominal cavity, so gas pains can occur pretty much anwhere within them but the transverse colon (the bit that goes along the top) is a common place for gas to build up, and in this case the pain could be where biology textbook diagrams show the pancreas.

I totally 100% agree with the above person who said to see a doctor if you're getting unexplained abdominal pain. No-one on an internet forum can diagnose you..... even a doctor can't diagnose you from an internet forum, they'll need to examine you. It's probably just gas pains, but as there are conditions like appendicitis that can cause acute abdominal pain (usually it's in the middle then moves to the lower right hand corner, but not everyone's appendix has read the textbook to know it's supposed to hurt in those places), it's best to get it checked out.

If it is gas pains, peppermint tea would help.... but seriously see your doctor
  • Thank you so much for your input. I am unemployed for 3 years now and have no health insurance, so I cant afford to just run to the doctor when I'm having a pain. I do have a cavernous hepatic hemangioma so I am used to having pain but this was different. I had it again last night though, and it was more prevalent if I laid on my right side then my left. Thing is WHEN it hurts (2 x now) if I eat something it subsides so that is why I therefore think it is pancreas instead of something more serious. If it lingered or intensified I would be worried and rushing to the ER but my thoughts were along the intake of many more carbs in my day not infected organs.

Are you in the US? Find a non for profit hospital and go to their ER. Or a free clinic, or something.....'cause what you are describing is concerning. Non for profits can't make you pay if you are unable to. I'm an RN, and the symptoms you are describing are concerning.
