Need help transferring my mindset!

Weight loss to Inch loss!
I think the first thing most people think about when they need to lose weight is, obviously 'I need to lose weight!' This then becomes their mindset and without help, they think it's what the scales say rather than what the mirror says.
I have, so far, lost 36lbs and I know I've lost some inches because I have gone down one dress size, from a UK 14 to a UK 12, but I have seen people losing the same or less and dropping 2-4 dress sizes and I cannot understand that (unless you count 14-12 TWO sizes, except there is no size 13!). Please note though that trousers from different shops either feel really tight or perfect, not loose, but I've managed to ditch my size 14's, unless I am feeling bloated.
This to me doesn't make sense. But I KNOW it should make sense because I do hardly any exercise. But for some reason, I cannot go from wanting to get to my goal weight to doing exercise because I am scared I then won't lose the weight, but I'm sure I will look better. I just need help getting over that barrier.
Did anyone else have this issue and what was your 'lightbulb' moment?
For the time being, I am desperate to get to 130lbs, but would love to be able to go into ANY shop and get a size 12 and it be too big!

I don't know how to help you,but it would be a good idea if you start measuring yourself. I had this moment of course, just a month ago. Before that I was all about losing 'weight'. Lost 9 lbs with dieting but saw all the people with same height and weight as me but they still looked a lot more different and better. Than I thought I must be doing something wrong, and I was. Without exercising you might have the weight you want but not the shape you want. So I started exercising and measuring inches and not lbs. Voillá! Fat started to melt down, lost inches and with every day I get closer to the body I want.
And 1 lb of fat is two times the size of 1 lb of muscle. That's why I was one size bigger (12) with the same weight as I am now, size 10.0
