Chocolate Obsession

I started my journey in 2009 and I weighed in at 230lbs my heaviest. I have always been thick and had hips even at my smallest, but at this point I was very round. I just got fed up one day cause I couldn't run like I used to and started gradually cutting back food. I lost 75lbs and got down to 155lbs in about 9 months. I did hit a plateau and got me a trainer and she helped me feel more confident and learn how to lift etc..
So we all have setbacks in our lives and I had a few. I have now gained 30 of those pounds back and I'm not ok with it but when I get depressed I eat and wont stop eating. Those 30lbs came on after finding out things about the hubby that happened over the course of our 16yr marriage. I can't seem to get that motivation I had, I loved working out. I'm a Zumba fanatic, but I can't get it together.
I want to eat freaking chocolate all day. It's starting to drive me insane. I wont even catch what I'm doing until the spoon of Nutella is out of my mouth.
So what are some things you guys do to make yourself change?

I love chocolate too! The best thing to do is stop buying it. Throw out any you already have. Make sure there is no chocolate in your home. You will feel withdrawals and cravings, but you won't be able to eat it if you don't own it! Maybe once or twice a week treat yourself to chocolate, but monitor the portion.0

Its all about moderation, I love chocolate so I let myself eat it because I'd go batty without it! My protein powder is chocolate flavored and I buy dark chocolate in individual packages and eat one every other day or so as a snack/reward. They are usually about 50 calories. I don't keep any other type of candy around! Same with ice cream, that's my other weakness. I make sure to portion it out exactly and let myself have some if it fits in my calories for the day.0

I am a chocoholic too. I cant help it. I have NO control with that. I have a dairy allergy so I TRY only to eat dark chocolate, but I dont care, I will eat any kind of chocolate. I try to limit it and track it. I dont smoke anymore and drink occasionally so I guess this is my only vice...and I have done the same with nutella. I have 2 teenagers, so its in my house.0

Keep it out of the house. Especially if you are emotionally compromised! I know that obsessive feeling. And the more you do it, the more you will think everything's out the window already, so oh well. First step to getting your motivation rebooted is detox!!0

Gawd, I am the same way, but my drug of choice is gummies. It's awful, I crave them. Ugh. I always regret it afterwards.0

I keep cocoa powder in my house and I use it in my own cooking where I can monitor fat and sugar content. I've found that I really enjoy mole chili! For lunch! And it's good for me! Yay!0

I've found a couple of things that work for me. A Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich or 2 tablespoons of melted chocolate chips poured over a sliced banana. That's my favorite.
It might also help if you view exercise as a stress relief. You're dealing with something emotional right now and probably have some pent up feelings inside. You'll definitely feel better after doing Zumba and releasing some endorphins. I understand that it's hard to get yourself to do it when you have "issues" going on that are emotionally draining. But give it a try. Even if it's 15 minutes at a time. I'm sorry for what you're going through. Take care of yourself and be good to yourself. :flowerforyou:0 -
I stop craving things once I stop eating them. Don't get me wrong, there is a period where I will KILL for whatever it is, but after awhile, you stop craving it. Its hard, but some things (like Dr. Pepper) I have to give up. I guess it just depends on whether or not it's really necessary to give up. For me, I can't have ice cream. I just can't. I will eat it once, then want it the next day and the day after.
I LOVE pizza, but now, I'll just make my own "healthier" version sometimes. I do have a sweat tooth, but I find if I have a chocolate meal replacement shake it curbs it just enough. I am a believer in all things moderation....except ice cream0 -
Aww thank you ladies.I try and buy everything sugar free i.e. choc morsels and I will scoop two frozen spoonful's of cool whip sugar free in a bowl and drizzle sugar free morsel and crushed almonds on the top. Or sometimes I will do a tsp. of the white chock peanut butter with it and freeze it.
Well to get me more motivated back to gym time I got a spin bike and hopefully I can wear the break pad out.0
