Waist getting smaller but not hips?

Is it possible for my waist to be the only thing losing inches? Although my jeans are DEFINITELY loser, I don't see the inches coming off my hips.

Where do you measure for your hips? I always use the biggest part of my body (around my butt!)

Are you sure you mean hips, or do you mean thighs? Because the width of your hips probably won't change much because it's your body frame. Once you get down to where you can feel your hipbones, you probably aren't going to lose any inches in that area.

You've only lost 5 lbs...so, yes...this is very possible. For most people....the last place you gain is the first place you'll lose (and vice versa). I think as long as you measure the same way every time...it doesn't matter exactly where you put the tape measure.

Hang in there...it takes time :ohwell:

You can lose inches from anywhere at anytime. I didn't lose inches off my mid section for a long time...I lost almost 2 inches around my neck and inches around my forearms, wrists, thighs, etc and a lot of fat off my face before I even lost a millimeter of my belly.

How much weight do you have to lose? Unless you have a lot of fat on your hips and butt, they probably won't reduce much because hip size is bone structure.

Yes. I have very little weight left to lose in my waist but still a considerable amount on my hips. My hips/butt are the last part of me to get smaller.

For hip measurement, you measure around the largest part of your butt/hips.

Yes, it's possible, and completely normal.

Very normal to lose unevenly. It drove me crazy when I first started to lose weight--I lost 3 or 4 inches off my hips before I lost one off my waist, so the opposite of you. It even changed me from a "low-risk" waist-to-hip ratio to a "moderate risk" ratio. That seemed particularly unfair, since I was eating better and losing weight!

My butt/hips seems to be the last area moving for me, makes jean shopping fun. NOT I end up too tight in the rear and gaping in the waist.

everyone has one area where they lose the slowest, for me it was my middle - but I stuck with it and now it's falling off too fast.
