Advice please. Should I included strength training calories burnt as well as cardio calories. I attend the gym 5/6 days a week and burn about 500 calories doing cardio workout and about : 300- 400 calories doing strength training, however I have not lost any weight for nearly six weeks now. Hence the question about strength calories burnt. I will open my diary. Thanks in advance.

How are you measuring your calories burnt?0

If you're using a HRM for your weight lifting, it's not going to be accurate. The algorithm is based off of steady state cardio, and it just isn't applicable to weight lifting. If you do want to include those calories, I'd only eat half back just in case.0

At the gym I attend weight is recorded in all machines ( techno gym) so for every machine used calories burn is recorded. When I log out I record the calories burnt for cardio machines and strength/ weights used.0

I took a peek at your diary. You're logging some pretty high calorie burns for exercise and eating some hearty high calorie meals + a couple hundred calories worth of wine every night. I think you may be over estimating your calories burned and just plain eating too many calories. A HRM will give you a better idea of your calorie burn. Trim down your meals, add some fresh fruits and veggies, maybe cut out the wine a few nights a week and you'll start losing.0

Good to see how much exercise you are doing but I would say the calories burned do look extremely high.
Might be sensible to only eat back a proportion of your exercise calories for a while (a few weeks) and see what happens.0 -

How long do you spend at the gym?0 -
I dont record any lifting calories and try to eat back less than half my exercise calories each day. I would say stop recording strength/lifting calories all together and make sure you use a HRM for your cardio to get accurate readings.0

About 2 hours. I do 70/75 minutes cardio and about 30 minutes doing weight machines.0

I log my strength training in MFP in the cardio section under strength training. For 40 minutes, it gives me +/- 150 calories burnt - you might be over-estimating your burn there.0

I don't count strength training as a calorie burn.0

Sadly I've learned that to really lose weight I need to not eat back any of my exercise calories. There are days that I will eat some if i'm super hungry or if I just need to splurge. Most days though I stick to being at or under my calorie goal, with no help from working out. It also might depend on how much you have to lose?0
