Don't know but this is one of my biggest problems right now. I do decent in most of everything except for the sodium. :(

When I eat a lot of sodium one day I have to eat a lot of fruit and veggies and no processed foods for 1-2 days before the scale shows the retention leaving. Drinking water is helping but the more sodium you eat the more you will have retention. I try not to let it bother me. When I wake up I weigh 229 and on a high sodium day I can get up to 238, lately its been 235. Having more potassium than sodium helps. I also find that eating green leafy veggies has helped balance my sodium intake.

Three days sounds about right. Usually driven by a Mexican or Chinese dinner out.

Honestly, for me sodium is a two edged sword. Now that I understand sodium's role in water retention and higher blood pressure, I'm very careful in how much I eat and generally keep it around 1500 to 2000 mg/day. Now my blood pressure is within normal limits. No pills! I also make sure I consume lots of fresh fruits and veggies since they are great sources of potassium, which helps balance sodium intake. Beans, salmon, and white and sweet potatoes are also excellent potassium sources. White potatoes are my reigning champ.

Takes me a day or two. I try to watch my sodium in take though. Borderline high blood pressure. I am worried if I don't care of this now, it will turn in to full blown high blood pressure.

I drink around 100 oz of water a day. If I don't, even when my sodium is low, I bloat right up. The most weight I have retained is 5lbs. Also depends on my lovely hormones.
  • You should be drinking about a gallon of water a day. Lots of water and green tea are GREAT natural detoxes ! Even though you may look bloated at the time, it does you a lot of good, probably more than you will know. A lot of people, such as myself drink loads of water on a cheat day because it flushes you out and really, water is good for everything !
  • thank you to everyone that commented.....it is much appreciated....will take the advice.....HERE TO LESS SALT and MORE WATER AND GREEN TEA!!!!!
