I dont do "comfort food" anymore it's just a fat persons excuse to eat junk IMO and I like to think that I've broken free of those self satisfying chains.0

low sodium organic broth; beef, chicken, vegetable and crackers,1 cup of mashed potatoes are fine, try added some minced up meat to it or cheese. yogurt, sugar free gelatin, really go for what you can handle when your sick.0

Coca Cola, especially if I have a cold or chest congestion.
7-Up if I have a tummy ache.
But, I don't drink this stuff otherwise.0 -
Depends on how sick I am. Usually a baked potato is the first thing I eat or wonton soup. My husband is very sweet and brings me the soup when I don't feel well (which is not very often). I grew up with 7-up, jello, chicken noodle soup, and sherbert being the standard fare when anyone is ill. To this day I can not eat any of those things because I think of them as sick people food. :noway:0

I agree - it depends how sick I am and what kind of sick I am....
Upper respiratory - I will STILL eat Campbells Chicken Noodle Soup... it's the only thing I CAN eat when I have bronchitis.
Stomach flu - Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast (whole grain)
Depressed - Chili (luckily I've learned how to make a low calorie chili)
Fluish (body aches) - Stir fry with a load of colorful veggies... I'm generally really hungry when I have the flu - so the volume of veggies helps and the extra vitamins help to boost my energy,0 -
I may be a bit weird, I don't really like junk food or anything, but my top comfort foods are a banana with a tablespoon of peanut butter, an apple, a fruit smoothie made with almond milk, or a baked potato with sour cream. Although the baked potato and sour cream isn't the most healthy thing, hehe.0

When I'm sick I always want grilled cheese or macaroni and cheese. It's the warm creaminess factor that I love.
I also love the cheap, red label Campbell's chx noodle soup. The fancy stuff doesn't cut it for me...it's gotta be in the $.99 can or I'm not happy.0 -
The only things I want to eat when I'm sick are Ramen Noodles and mashed potatoes. Unless I have a sore throat, then I also add in a little bit of Sprite to my menu.0

Pudding, jello, and Quaker instant oatmeal.0

Ginger ale, soda crackers when I have the flu. But when I'm sick with a really bad cold that has me really stuffed up I have this kind of tea like mixture a friend taught me how to make. It's a handful of cut up ginger root in a ton of brown sugar. You boil it all up and drink as much of it as you can! It really works too! It made me feel amazing last time I had a really bad cold.
When I'm emotionally down, there's nothing better than sheppards pie (aka pate chinois), or tortiere.0 -
orange juice and popsicles if I have a cold or sore throat otherwise my old roomie use to make the best spicy chicken and rice soup that woud cure anything.0
-
sick: nothing too heavy, maybe some wonton soup.
comfort: home made strawberry shake with really good vanilla ice cream and real strawberries and a bit of milk. thats all though..0 -
When I'm sick, I want popsicles, ginger ale, and crackers.0

With a stomach virus it's ginger ale and toast. With a cold, I like pbj sandwiches. I still don't understand that one.0

I almost never have trouble eating, even when i'm sick. My favorite comfort food is nachos smothered in cheese, refried beans, hot sauce and sour cream.
I also love a nice big wedge of soft brie cheese and a glass of welchs' grape juice
Being sick makes we want to alternate between long soaks in the tub and naps on the couch, eating slowly but constantly through the day. I hope your not asking for advice on a healthy comfort food, cuz for my that doesn't really happen:ohwell:
Ooooh... maybe some vegetarian chili topped with fat free sour cream?0 -

That's how I am. I HATE Coke when I'm not sick, but when I don't feel good it's the only thing I can drink. I love water usually, but when I'm sick enough to want Coke, I can't drink water. It's so strange. I also have to have Campbell's chicken nood'e soup and orange Mayfield popcicles. Those 3 always make me feel better when I'm sick.0 -
Chamomille tea with honey for sore throat or general cold.
Peppermint tea for stuffy nose.
And make sure you get protein if you're sick, gotta be able to make the antibodies!
Feel better!0 -
Homemade chicken or beef stock cooked down from the bones
It's nice and warming on a winter day, helps when sick with a cold, and it's nutrient-packed and good for you! It's a tried and true old-fashioned comfort food.
My other go-to is a bowl of half-frozen berries topped with coconut milk & mashed into an ice-cream-like substance topped with pecans. Mmmm mmm.0
