Has anyone dealt with vein stripping?

i have been having problems with my calf for about a year. Kaiser put me on compression stockings, but I couldn't afford them so I wrapped an ACE bandage around my calf and got a superficial blood clot. Well, its the enitre inside of my calf area and I'm going to have to go in for surgery.

I'm really scared. I heard they don't put you to sleep which is good on one hand and very scary for me to be awake for this.

Anyhow, has anyone had his done and what kind of a procedure?

    I work in a hospital that has a department that performs these procedures daily. Most people do well and find relief following the recovery period. Sounds like you really need this done. Good luck and hope your feeling well. I'm sure they'll tell you after you recover that a daily walking program will likely strengthen your leg structures and hopefully prevent any recurrence.
