Pinched nerve and numbness

For the last week I've been dealing with numbness in both legs from waist down. Went to the doctor on Monday and x-ray didn't show anything with discs or spine (thank god!), so doc said "pinched nerve". He gave me some pain meds and 300 mg. ibuprofin to take every 6 hours for anti-inflammatory. 5 days later....still have numbness and now feeling that tingling sensation around my lower back and abdomen. Called the doctor on Thursday and asked to be sent for an MRI, just to be sure there's nothing else going on, and the office called me back and said that I should just wait until Monday and call back and they'll schedule something then. WHAT?!?! In the mean time, I tried stepping up onto my porch from the ground (approx. 1ft high) and totally whipped out. My leg buckled and I went down.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? My concern is that I don't have a lot of pain in my lower back where the supposed pinched nerve is, just some pressure every once in awhile.
