best socks for a mud/foam run?

I am looking into what to wear for my first mud/foam run in June. I have been told never to wear cotton anything. My biggest concern is blisters on my feet. So what are the best socks to wear. Someone told me to duct tape my feet and shoes. Shoes I can understand but my feet?
