    Have you tried running? Now, I only burn about 100 calories per mile (a little more with incline), but as I got lighter, I also got faster, so I can burn the same calories in same time (or less). 5 or 6 miles per hour = 500-600 calories per hour.

    of course, there are crossovers ... the jacobs ladder at the gym is a calorie crusher and definitely ups endurance while going easy on joints.

    Got a smart phone? Nike Training Club - free app full of awesome. Huge variety of workouts, 15-45 minutes in length, some require equipment, but many don't.

    Try Fitness Blender videos on youtube. They're free, full length and set up by a pair of married fitness trainers. They have loads of options- kettle bells, HIIT training, abs, weights, etc. I wear my HR Monitor and always burn lots of calories! I'm short too. ;-)
