Date a work-in-progress or a finished product, and why?

It really depends. (my answer to everything, ha!)

Depends on someone's attitude. I would date based on chemistry & general compatibility, so the body shape/size isn't as important . Everyone is a work in progress really. On the other hand I would need to see if I can accept them as they are, not expecting them to change.

No more fixer uppers for me!

If I'm ever in a relationship again he should

    1 ) Be employed fully

    2) Have his own friends

    3) Have his own interests

    4) Never tell me what he really wants to be is a wrestler with the WWE ( or whatever it's called)

5 ) have been done with all 12 steps at least five years in advance of our meeting.

    Is that being picky?

Very good answer! However, first impressions are the foundation for any interaction. So you're saying you'd give the work in progress the time of day, at least long enough to see if you're compatible? Very admirable!

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Plus I listen to my gut/intuition and go by that.

Unless someone believes they are a work in progress, they aren't. People are people, regardless of their aesthetics, occupation, education, intelligence, wealth.. If you cannot accept someone as you find them, they are not for you!

I don't really believe in these categories.. If I like someone, I do.. if they change I might not like them anymore.. or I might like them even more, but I wouldn't know.. but anyone is capable of change, whether they start off meeting your expectations or not!

So I think 'finished product', because I think that's a more positive outlook!
