Quinoa

So, I went grocery shopping today and was disappointed that I only found 3 little boxes of flavored Quinoa and no plain at all. I was under the impression that you could buy it plain and in a larger box or bag like rice or pasta and use it variously. I did however buy two flavored boxes and I guess just use it as I would flavored rice.

Does your grocery store have a bulk foods aisle (beans, grains, coffees, etc.)? If so, that may be your best option. I buy all my quinoa and other grains bulk so I only buy what I need.

I actually found plain organic quinoa at Sam's Club. I've seen it at 2 different local health food stores, a local grocery store and Safeway. Just keep you're eyes peeled, the plain kind shouldn't be that hard to find. What I find odd is I can't say I've ever seen the flavored kind.

We get a large bag of Quinoa from Costco, but I also noted that our Safeway has recently started carrying it as well.

At my local grocery store, the quinoa is in the gluten-free section. Costco has it, too, but in GIANT bags.

I've actually never heard of Safeway. I don't think there are any of those around here and unfortunately am not a member of Costco or Sam's Club.

Thanks, I'll check in the gluten-free section.
