Okay....bear with me fellow MFP, Im trying to make myself feel better and I dont have anywhere else to go =0 so I have been on a mini vacation since Friday. Ive also eaten like Armageddon was coming Monday. I'm really trying not to feel guilty about this, as I knew I was going to enjoy myself this weekend and not be the "obsessive calorie counter" my friends and husband think I am. But its really hard, so ve been thinking of the difference between what I ate this weekend and what I would have eaten a year ago. You know what? I did pretty damn good I do say so! For instance, Instead of the chicken fried steak the size of an infant I would have eaten, i ate the baked chicken. (gratened the baked chicken was huge too) Instead of eating the biscuit that is named "the worlds largest" (no kidding biggest biscuit I've ever seen) with 2 cups of gravy, I ate 2 eggs and 2 pieces of toast. Pudding instead of ice cream, and many other better choices. This is a victory. Plus the reason I was out of town was for a wedding and I have never felt as pretty as I did that day. I don't think I have ever felt pretty until Sat. So enough said I feel better. Thanks for listening....my husband gets a little wierded out when I talk to him about this.

WOW! You look fabulous and glad that you appreciated how good you look!!! It sounds like you enjoyed your weekend and did make decent choices instead of going totally back to old habits. While I am still trying to lose, I am hopeful that once I am in maintenance for life, that I can enjoy some of the food pleasures that I used to but in moderation and only on rare occasions. Kudos to you for your accomplishment and for allowing yourself to enjoy a weekend without it destroying your attitude and goals!
  • I think that's wonderful!!! I hope that in a year I can say the same!!! Thanks for Sharing!!!!

I can totally relate! After being as you said, the "obsessive calorie lady"...or as my mom said after a few glasses of wine on Christmas Eve, "calorie hoe"!....lol it's hard to not feel bad about food all together.

Your choices were still good conscious ones, and you have to commend yourself on that. You could have eaten fast food all weekend, like I used to...4 double cheeseburgers for dinner was the norm for me back then. Now, I am finding that allowing myself to resume eating at a maintenance level is becoming a bit of a task, due to the fear of gaining all that weight back. But we just have to come back down to earth and realize that as long as we consciously eat and have things in moderation, it'll be fine! Keep up the great work, girl!

vacations are for just that vacations. I will indulge in 7 weeks on my cruise, but will workout everyday. I hope to not gain but just stay where I was when I get on that ship

Good job you! I think it is all about portion control and making better choices. On vacation, you're expected to eat a little bad so it sounds like you did really well.

    YOU BET YOU CAN!!!

It really makes me :explode: when people like that say or do things that to make you feel guilty or saddened about what you are eating. It's a vacation! It's not like you are doing that all the time.

You said it yourself, it could have been worse. You made the right choices, you had control, you chose correct portion sizes and you did what was best for you. Besides, I bet the people around you didn't scrutinize themselves for eating the way they did. Why should you?

You all have lost a serious amount of weight. You all look great. BE PROUD OF YOURSELF! :smooched:

I hope one day that I can join you in that area. One day I will get there, One day.

i think you did really, really well. and you have a right to feel beautiful. i am taking a big trip at the end of may and i'm really hoping i can follow your example.

i've been mentally trying to think through how i will make choices on the trip. i do not know which restaurants we will be at, but should be able to have grilled & baked foods. watch my portions. be a fussy dinner & be specific about what i need. (and maybe stash some healthy snacks in my suitcase, so i can avoid the wrong foods between meals too).

i will get more calories than normal, but i want to avoid a total train wreck. thanks for your story. -katie
