I have lost 25 pounds since Christmas(56 pounds all together.) and my current weight 154 and I'm almost 5'4. I'm currently a size 12. I have noticed and other people have noticed that I am getting really Bulky, muscular and THICK. My exercise routine is very much cardio with a few days for weight lifting. I'm just wondering if maybe my heart rate is too much in the cardio range and not in weight loss range. The other day I ran 4 miles with no problem. Another thing is that my diet needs some work. I'm not as strict as I once was. I have been logging my food since Christmas Day. I have basically been staying within calorie range but not eating enough vegetables and such. Anyone else having this problem , their fat being converted into muscle and looking muscular? I also give the allusion that I weight less than I really do. Even my doctor who didn't know my weight because I don't weigh at the doctors said that I was done loosing. *he is big on people loosing weight. My goal weight is 125..........that is 29 more!!!!!!!!
P.>S. I don't mind being muscular at goal weight.

I dont know. I lift heavy weights 4 times a week and I am not bulky. I weigh more than you, and I and the same height, and I am wearing a 10-12 . So all I can say is people are different.
and I never work in the "fat burning zone" for cardio, my HR is ALWAYS up there.
maybe try if your not already doing, pilates, I do that too, its good for long, leaner looking muscles.
Good luck!:flowerforyou:0 -

Yeah I like Pilates but my gym program is not all that great. Maybe I can get a tape for home. Thanks .0 -
What is your indication that you are getting bulky? Did you take your measurements? I ask because when you first start doing regular weight training, your muscles can swell a bit and retain some water. When you still have fat to lose on top of the muscles, this can perhaps look bulky, but I doubt you have gained serious inches (at least not permanent ones). I would keep at it. Also, the "fat burning zone" is a pretty antiquated idea. The more intensely you work out, the more you will burn. I think you should keep doing what you have been doing--perhaps reign the diet back in a bit. And take your measurements. I think it will ease your fears about getting bulky. You might think you look bigger, but you have probably lost inches. Just my guess.0
