Food, protein whey question..

I do daily walks when weather permits. I am focusing on weight loss at this time not muscle build. As a pre-walk I have eaten fruit 30 min prior to start. After completion I have been drinking a scoop of whey protein in half glass of 2% chocolate milk withing 30 min after my walk.
The chocolate and whey are supposed to keep the burn going long after the walk.
I have now been told the whey and chocolate is for muscle build and not beneficial for weight loss after exercise. I was told to take the whey and chocolate drink before the walk and a piece of fruit and granola bar after.
Anyone know if any of this is true? Should I make a change in pre walk and post walk foods?

Chocolate or whey won't make you burn more and won't make you build muscle.
You will not build muscle while eating at a deficit... you actually lose it.
Protein powder only needs to be used to reach your protein goals if you can't reach them from food alone.0
