VEGAN METABOLISM RESET - Can it be done???

Hi. I am attempting to do a metabolism reset - eating at TDEE for 8-12 weeks. My issue is that I am living a low fat/sodium plant-based, whole foods life and am having a very difficult time reaching TDEE. I am trying to keep a balanced menu, so I want to avoid just adding high fat calories such as avocados and nuts.

I have blogged about my plant-based & metabolism reset experiences thus far here:

Any advice on how to get to 2250 calories worth of healthy foods is appreciated!

Unless you have a medical condition you can easily consume more fat and it would actually be beneficial. I'm not sure what you mean by a balanced menu, unless for some reason you think fat is bad. Around 60-80g of fat would significantly increase the calories you consume.

Another option would be to eat calorie dense starchy foods.

Salt and fat are essential to the basic functions of your body.

Why are you trying to so drastically reduce them? Unless it is because of an illness or under sound medical advice I would suggest relaxing your restrictions a bit.

Looking at your diary I would raise your fat to at least 50g a day and your salt to a minimum of 500mg a day for the healthy functioning of your body.

    I don't have a medical condition.

I am very familiar with the benefits of healty, plant-based fats, and I get all I need from eating whole, plant-based foods.. During my metabolism reset, I want to continue to eat a balanced menu - including nuts and avocados - like I am now. But I am trying to boost to 2250 calories/day from 1200. I don't want the extra 1050 calories to come only from high-fat foods like nuts & avocados, though it would be easy to do so because they are delicious and are among the most calorie-dense plant based foods.

I get all the sodium and fat I need fat from eating WHOLE, plant-based foods. There is no benefit to eating salt and concentrated fats.
